There has been no shortage of reactions to Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair cover. But leave it to a bunch of kids to school us all on empathy and humanity.
She Knows recently talked to a group of children about Jenner. First the kids were shown a photo of Bruce, running as an Olympic athlete. Then they were shown a photo of Caitlyn. At first, the kids were surprised to find out they are the same person.
"How could a boy turn into a girl? That's impossible!" said one boy.
And then they were shown the different reactions to Caitlyn -- both good and bad. The kids liked the positive reactions. While they disagreed with the negative statements, they demonstrated a lot of empathy toward the naysayers. "They're just scared of change and don't know how to handle it," said one girl.
In the end, these kids taught us all an important lesson that was best summed up with one boy's reaction: "It's important for you to be yourself because if you're not yourself then who are you?"
Faith in humanity restored.
