Central Alberta man charged in fatal restaurant stabbing to face trial

WETASKIWIN, Alta. - A trial has been ordered for a man charged in a fatal stabbing at a fast-food restaurant in central Alberta.

The judge's decision on Tuesday follows a preliminary hearing for Casey Lee Lightning, a 50-year-old resident of the Samson Cree First Nation.

Lightning is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jonathon Greene.

The 33-year-old alleged victim, who is also from the same First Nation, suffered stab wounds while he was inside a Wetaskiwin McDonalds in May 2014.

A trial date has not been set. (CKGY)
