'Sex and the City' costumer to speak at Montreal Fashion & Design Festival

MONTREAL - The Emmy-winning costume designer for "Sex and the City" is heading to Montreal this summer for the city's Fashion & Design Festival.

New York-based stylist and designer Patricia Field — Oscar-nominated for her work in "The Devil Wears Prada" — is among the renowned speakers taking part in the festival's conferences program.

London milliner Stephen Jones — who has contributed to fashion shows for leading labels including Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Christian Dior and Vivienne Westwood — is also slated to participate.

Simons CEO Peter Simons, whose Quebec-based company is in the midst of cross-Canada expansion, will also be speaking during the conferences, which will be held at the Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal.

The conferences are open to the public with tickets starting at $15.

Nearly 50 shows are to be presented during the four-day festival, which includes fashion shows, live creative sessions and musical performances.

Last year's event featured French style visionary and author Nathalie Rykiel as honorary president.

The 15th edition of the Fashion & Design Festival is scheduled to take place Aug. 17-21 at Quartier des spectacles.
