Swim instructor charged in sexual assaults

Police have charged a 47-year-old Toronto swim instructor with three counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 10.

The swim instructor, Oscar Piedrasanta, allegedly began assaulting the victim when the child was seven, in 2013, and stopped in 2015, when the child ceased going to him for lessons, police say.

Officers from the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre arrested the man on Thursday and charged him with:

- Sexual Assault.

- Sexual Interference.

- Sexual Exploitation.

He is scheduled to appear at Old City Hall court on July 23.

Police believe that there may be more victims as the accused had access to other children via swim programs.

Piedrasanta has worked as a swimming instructor in Toronto with the following programs he has been affiliated with:

- From 2009 to 2013, the Zodiac Swim Club at 160 Steeprock Drive and 318 Lawrence Avenue East.

- From 2013 to present, the Felix Swim Club at three locations: 64 Baldwin Street, 181 Broadview Avenue and 315 Osler Street.
