Child, caregiver hit by truck in downtown Vancouver

A caregiver and a child have been rushed to hospital after being hit by a truck in downtown Vancouver on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Officials say a caregiver was pushing an infant in a stroller across Hornby Street at West Georgia around 3 p.m. PT when they were struck by a truck turning north onto Hornby Street.

"The caregiver and infant were taken to hospital in stable condition," said Vancouver police spokesperson Sgt. Randy Fincham in a statement.

"The driver of the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators."

Drivers are being told to expect delays as investigators inspect the scene.
