Police in standoff with armed man at Canadian Tire in Timmins, Ont.

TIMMINS, Ont. - Police say a man armed with at least one high-powered gun is barricaded inside a Canadian Tire store in Timmins, Ont.Timmins police Insp. Mike McGinn says the store's alarm went off around 4 a.m. Wednesday and employees found an intruder in the building when they arrived. The employees left and called police, who arrived within minutes, McGinn told reporters at the scene."The target of the break-in was firearms and there are firearms that have been removed," McGinn said."Anything that would be within line of sight of a high-powered weapon we have evacuated."Several other stores, including a Home Depot and an Esso gas station, as well as nearby roads have been shut down as Ontario Provincial Police have set up a perimeter and taken over operational control of the scene.McGinn says investigators have reviewed security footage of the store and have confirmed the man is armed with a "long gun," but haven't identified him.Police also say they are aware of unconfirmed sightings in the area of Clyde Marshall and Sabrina Chouart, who are wanted on a murder warrant in Toronto in the death of Sina Parsi. But McGinn says there is no evidence that the man inside the Canadian Tire is Marshall.Timmins police are asking the public to stay away from the area and to stop calling them about when the stores will open."They are closed until further notice," police tweeted.
