Toronto man, teen face several charges in connection with robberies

A 36-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl arrested Monday face several charges in connection with robbing two Scarborough pharmacies and a restaurant.

Police laid eight charges against them for the alleged robberies that took place in a 10-day period this month near Eglinton Avenue East and McCowan Road.

Police say that during the robberies,"a man entered the premises, hiding his identity with a mask and sunglasses. He then displayed a handgun and made a demand for either cash or drugs."

Police are also alleging that in one of the drug store robberies, "the girl surveilled the location prior to the robbery" and then helped the man get away.

Among the charges the two face are: three counts of robbery while armed with a firearm, three counts of disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime.

The suspects appeared in separate courtrooms Wednesday.
