Human remains found in Whistler

Homicide investigators are in Whistler, B.C. after a resident discovered what appears to be human remains, just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday. 

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has cordoned off the area near an unnamed industrial complex.

Police say due to the state of decomposition, details such as identity, gender and the cause of death are unknown at this time.

"Our priority at this stage is to identify the individual and notify family members," said Sgt. Stephanie Ashton.

An autopsy will be done to piece together information about the circumstances surrounding the death.
