Petition seeks to stop Canucks from trading Eddie Lack

Eddie Lack seems destined to be traded from the Vancouver Canucks but an online petition is hoping to convince the team to keep the popular goalie.

The "Save Eddie Lack!" campaign launched on asks, "Do you like hockey? tacos? Swedes? dancing? winning?! If the answer to any of the above was yes then sign this petition!"

The likeable Lack has been the subject of rampant trade speculation in recent days with the NHL rookie draft and free agency approaching.

He is under contract for one more year at $1.15 million, and rumours already have both the Dallas Stars and Philadelphia Flyers interested in signing the goalie.

The 27-year-old Swede is one of three goalies currently in the Canucks fold. Ryan Miller still has two years and $12-million left on his contract, while Jacob Markstrom — who spent most of the season in the AHL — is set to become a restricted free agent.

Lack posted an 18-13-4 record this past season with a solid .921 save percentage, but strong play is only one reason fans love him.

His ever-smiling and self-deprecating personality, often on display on Lack's twitter account, also sets him apart.

The petition goes on to state, "Eddie Lack is the best young goalie the Canucks have had in a long time. Sign this petition and tell Canucks to #keeplack."

As of 6 p.m. Tuesday the campaign had 91 signatures.
