Free WiFi now available in Old Montreal, convention centre

The long-awaited free wireless Internet project, concocted by Montreal's Intelligent City project, is now a reality in at least part of the city.

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre announced the gradual roll-out of free WiFi networks in the areas of Old Montreal and the convention centre, which are the main tourist attractions of the city.

For now, coverage will be limited to a few streets but, by 2017, the entire downtown should have WiFi.
