Cap-St-Jacques, Île-Bizard beaches reopen to public

The beaches at Cap-St-Jacques and the Bois de l'île-Bizard nature park have reopened after being closed for two days due to elevated levels of fecal coliform bacteria.

The beaches were closed to swimming on June 24.

The recent abundance of rain is thought to have stirred up an excess of the bacteria.

Exposure to elevated levels of waterborne fecal coliform can cause gastroenteritis.
