10 Epic Canadian Meals That Will DESTROY YOU
Joey DeVilla/Flickr

What makes an epic meal? Harley Morenstein knows a thing or two about that. As the face of Epic Meal Time, Harley is behind the famous Chip Brick Burger, Epic Quesarito, and is now the (former) owner of an epic beard.

For some brave souls, food represents a challenge, not a relaxing meal. If you count yourself among those culinary daredevils, we’ve scoured the country for 10 gut-busting food items that need to be seen (and tasted, and smelled) to be believed. But in the meantime, we’ve got pictures.

Poutine
Poutineville
Yeah, we're starting with the classic dish of French fries, cheese curds and gravy. A true Canadian classic. It's also the perfect base for everything you ever wanted to eat. Poutineville, a small chain with locations in Toronto, Quebec, and Montreal, has taken the Poutine to its most epic extreme with the Heart Attack, a $100 15-lb monstrosity of Canadiana. It has to be seen to be believed.
The Alpine Burger
YouTube
Think BC is all about the healthy food? The Alpine Burger looks at your assumption and laughs. It's a 5-lb burger packing 10,000 calories of meat, cheese and bacon, and it comes courtesy of the Fountain Diner in Victoria. The best part: you have 30-minutes to eat it. Only two people have done it. You have your work cut out for you.
Mike & Angelo's Pasta Challenge
I Bet You Can't
Here’s the situation: You have seven pounds of pasta and 90 minutes to eat it all. This epic meal is from Mike & Angelo's Italian Restaurant in Niagara Falls, Ontario. It's a meal of lasagna, chicken parmesan, cheese manicotti, garlic bread, soup, spaghetti and cannelloni. Get to twirling those noodles.
The Legendary Furious Canucker
PIE
Pizza and poutine. Three pizzas stacked with a pound of poutine. Can you even begin to handle that much savoury goodness? Take a deep breath and start eating. The Furious Canucker is from PIE in Pickering, Ontario.
Morty's Steakhouse 70-ounce steak
MTL Blog
It's a massive piece of meat. Just staring at it makes you feel full but if you're in Montreal, stop by Morty's Steakhouse and Catering, go full cow and get your red meat on.
The Mighty Q's Hungry Man Challenge: 72-ounce steak
TripAdvisor
If you’re in the mood for more steak, this one is 72 ounces and comes with onion rings and a stuffed potato. Where can you get this deliciousness? At Q Steakhouse in Abbotford, BC.
Le Monstre Chicken Sandwich
MTL Blog
Feel like chicken tonight? Then you can have all the chicken you want with the Le Monstre from El Zaziummm. It's a chicken sandwich unlike anything you’ve ever picked up at the corner deli. No, this sandwich has three chicken breasts with a side of fries and a pickle.
Pancakes at Jethro's Fine Grub
Bored In Vancouver
Here’s a bold statement: Brunch can be epic. These pancakes from Jethro in Vancouver will keep you full for the next three days, given that they’re the size of hubcaps. Feel free to wear your pajama pants to the restaurant (hooray for elastic waistbands) and bring on the maple syrup!
Everything at Au Pied de Cochon
Eatwell Montreal
This list wouldn't be complete without a mention of the epic Montreal restaurant, Au Pied de Cochon. When Anthony Bourdain threatens to die from gluttony, you know it's good. Go for the duck in can or the foie gras. Whatever you eat, you'll have to roll yourself back to your hotel.
Burger's Priest Secret Menu
Creators of Toronto
It starts with a question and if you get it right, you enter the nirvana that is the Burger's Priest secret menu. There's the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, The Armageddon and the Tower of Babel. Hope you paid attention in bible study class! Spoiler: The answer is 370 Days. Now get eating.
