Montmagny Hospital ER to remain closed until mid-July

Montmagny Hospital officials said Tuesday most services won't be back up and running until at least mid-July.

A fire caused major damage to the hospital after flames broke out in Montmagny's medical laboratory on June 20.

The fire forced the evacuation of the building.

Surgeries and emergency calls have been redirected to the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Lévis, across the river from Quebec City, and to the hospital in La Pocatière, east of Montmagny.

The hospital remains open for external consultations, long-term hospitalisation and chemotherapy treatments.

Officials said damages could total $10 million.
