St-Jérôme highway crash leaves 1 man dead

A man in his 40s is dead after his vehicle was rear-ended on a St-Jérôme highway Monday night.

The incident happened on the southbound Highway 15 in St-Jérôme around 10 p.m. Monday.

The minivan the victim was driving was struck from behind by a second minivan.

The collision caused the victim to lose control of his vehicle. His minivan fell into the roadside ditch, flipped over several times and landed on its roof.

The driver was later confirmed dead in hospital. His passenger suffered minor injuries.

The people in the other vehicle were not seriously hurt.

Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau of the Sûreté du Québec said investigators think driver fatigue or distraction may have been a cause of the crash.

Provincial police are investigating.
