World Rugby confirms March dates for Vancouver stop on rugby sevens world tour

TORONTO - Canada's debut event on the 2016 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series will take place March 12-13 in Vancouver.

The tournament at B.C. Place Stadium will be the sixth stop on the 10-event men's tour.

The date was confirmed Tuesday as World Rugby, formerly known as the International Rugby Board, released dates to go with the previously announced cities.

The governing body of world rugby also announced a new four-year deal with HSBC that adds the women's series under the HSBC banner.

Details of the locations and dates for the 2015-16 HSBC Women's World Rugby Sevens Series will be announced later. Canada hosted a women's event for the first time this year, in Langford, B.C.

Round 1: Dubai, Dec. 4-5

Round 2: Cape Town, Dec. 12-13

Round 3: Wellington, Jan. 30-31

Round 4: Sydney, Feb. 6-7

Round 5: Las Vegas, March 4-6

Round 6: Vancouver. March 12-13

Round 7: Hong Kong, April 8-10

Round 8: Singapore April 16-17

Round 9: Paris, May 14-15

Round 10: London, May 21-22
