Zeke Thurston tied for second in the saddle bronc after strong performance

CALGARY - Canada's Zeke Thurston rebounded for a strong performance on Wednesday at the Calgary Stampede.

The Big Valley, Alta., native scored an 89.00 in the saddle bronc and jumped into a tie for second in the Pool B standings.

Thurston struggled in the fifth performance on Tuesday with a 70.50 — the lowest score of any competitor. Jake Wright of the United States added to his comfortable lead atop the standings with an 84.00.

Orin Larsen, of Inglis, Man., climbed the bareback standings after an 88.00 in the sixth performance. He's in first place after entering the day in third.

Canadian Tara Muldoon had the second best score of the day in the ladies barrel racing with a 17.55. The Hinton, Alta., native is tied with American Callie duPerier for second in the standings. Lisa Lockhart, of the U.S., is in first.

American Trevor Knowles maintained his lead in the steer wrestling after a 4.9 in the sixth performance. Fellow countryman Fred Whitfield leads the tie down roping.

Wesley Silcox, of the U.S., had the second best bull riding score on Wednesday and is atop the overall standings.
