Just a few days after Prince William and Duchess Catherine (a.k.a. Kate Middleton) were spotted cheering on Andy Murray at Wimbledon, the prince has started his new job as an air ambulance pilot.
In the video above, we learn all about Prince William's job as a pilot for air ambulance service East Anglian Air Ambulance, including exactly what he'll be doing all day. The 33-year-old royal and father of two admitted to camera crews on Monday that despite piloting helicopters in the past, he still had first-day nerves.
The prince, who worked nine-and-a-half hours during his first shift, began his workday at 7 a.m. (BST). He is believed to be working a four-day on, four-day off schedule, which will allow him to balance his work, family and royal obligations, the Associated Press reported.
Upon announcing the Duke of Cambridge would be taking on the new job, Kensington Palace noted William is the first member of the Royal Family in direct succession to the throne to take a civilian job and he will be donating the entirety of his £40,000 salary to charity after taxes.
The second in line to the throne has been flying planes and helicopters since April 2008, when he received his Royal Air Force Wings after 12 weeks of intensive training. William was named helicopter captain in June 2012.
