Surrey shooting leaves one man dead

One man is dead and another is in police custody following an altercation at a home in Surrey, B.C. late Sunday night.

Surrey RCMP say they responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 11:30 p.m. PT on Sunday at 165 Street and 64 Avenue.

Police said neighbours reported there appeared to have been some kind of disagreement inside the home before the shots were fired.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has now confirmed an arrest in relation to the shooting.

It's unclear whether the attack was targeted or random, or whether it is related to a low-level drug war that has been playing out in the area since March, police said.

IHIT has taken over the investigation.
