Blacks photography to stay on in web and mobile app form

Photography chain Blacks has reached a deal to continue to exist in digital form, even after its owners shutter all 59 of its bricks and mortar locations.

In June, Blacks owner Telus announced it would be closing all Blacks locations and attempting to find other jobs within the company for its employees. But in an email to clients on Tuesday, Blacks said it has found someone to buy the company's digital operations and keep them going.

"After the recent announcement of our closing we were approached by one of Canada's leading photofinishers with interest in purchasing our website and mobile app business," the email read.

As of Aug. 4, control of Blacks digital properties will switch to Montreal-based Les Pros De La Photo. The chain said it will continue to accept any existing Blacks gift cards after the formal changeover.

"We look forward to seeing the business grow under the new ownership," Telus said Tuesday in a brief emailed statement.
