Canyon in Banff National Park where boy was hit by tree opens after cleanup

BANFF, Alta. — A popular Banff National Park tourist attraction where a boy was hit by a falling tree has reopened.

A Parks Canada spokeswoman says the Johnston Canyon Trail is ready for visitors after the removal of 20 trees that were identified as potential problems.

Work to repair the trail, railings and boardwalk was also done.

The trail was closed last week after a boy suffered life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a falling tree.

He was flown by air ambulance to Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary.

There's been no update on his condition.
