Ryan Hampton, Former Mountie, Claims Ex-Wife Framed Him In Child Porn Case

Ryan Hampton is charged with accessing and possessing child pornography.

A former Mountie on trial for child porn-related charges claims his then-wife framed him so she could have an advantage in their upcoming divorce.

Ryan Hampton, who served in Vernon, B.C., was charged with accessing and possessing child pornography last year after 62 graphic photos and three videos of young girls and boys were found on a flash drive, reported Castanet.

Hampton's ex-wife, Const. Valerie Little, is also an RCMP officer. She said found the material in April 2013, but didn't turn it into her senior officers until a month later, according to the outlet. Hampton was arrested the next day.

She told investigators she waited because she was in disbelief and didn't want to ruin Hampton's career, according to The Province.

Hampton, who was reportedly addicted to heroin, alcohol, and cocaine at the time, claims that his wife planted the porn on his computer undetected because of his condition, Global News reported.

"She wanted the children, she wanted the child support," defence lawyer Jason Tarnow told the court in Kelowna. "Ms. Little devised a plan that cost this man his career, his reputation, his house and his family."

The couple has three children together, said The Province.

Hampton, who resigned from the force on his own, has pleaded not guilty.
