Canada loses again at cricket qualifier despite its best batting at tournament

EDINBURGH, Scotland - Opener Stephan Myburgh hit 67 off 30 balls to lead the Netherlands to a six-wicket victory over winless Canada on Friday at the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.

Led by Ruvindu Gunasekera's 51, Canada (0-5-0) scored 172 for eight in its 20 overs — its best batting total of the tournament. Wicket-keeper Hamza Tariq, batting sixth, added 42 off 20 balls.

Myburgh and Wesley Barresi put on 65 for the first wicket in just 4.4 overs as the Dutch (174 for four) reached their victory target midway through the 18th over.

Canada wraps up play Saturday against Afghanistan (3-1-0 with one no result) at Stirling while the Netherlands (3-2-0) face Kenya (3-1-0 with one no result) in Edinburgh.

The top six sides in the 14-team tournament will join the ICC's 10 full members for the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016, which runs March 11 to April 3.
