Montreal weather: Summer heat moves into region this week

Quebecers who like intense heat, get ready to rejoice.

A hot-air mass is headed for the province and will cause the mercury to rise.

Temperatures of at least 20 C will greet those living in southern Quebec each morning, while afternoon temperatures are expected to oscillate between 30 C and 38 C each day.

"We're getting pretty much the normal weather for that time of year, [maybe] a little bit warmer than normal," said Environment Canada meteorologist Simon Legault.

There will also be a high degree of humidity during the week as well. Legault said humidity increases the sensation of heat.

He recommended staying out of the sun, using an air conditioner, staying hydrated and not exercising too vigorously outside.

Today: Becoming a mix of sun and cloud this afternoon with 30 percent chance of showers later this afternoon. High 27 C. UV index 8 or very high.

Tonight: A few clouds. Low 19 C.

Monday: A mix of sun and cloud. 40 percent chance of showers in the afternoon with risk of a thunderstorm. High 28 C.
