Surrey motorcycle crash kills man, seriously injures woman

One man is dead and a woman is in serious condition, after a motorcycle and a car collided Saturday night in Surrey.

It happened around 9 p.m. at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 172nd Street.

A North Vancouver resident driving a car westbound on 8th Avenue was turning left onto 172nd Street, when the vehicle collided with a motorcycle traveling eastbound, according to Surrey RCMP.

Police said a 32-year-old Langley man and a 22-year-old woman from Surrey were thrown from the motorcycle.

The man died at the scene of the crash and the woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

Neither speed, nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the crash, according to police.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the vehicles before the crash is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or to contact Crime Stoppers.
