Young girl focus of short Amber Alert triggered by gas station theft

EDMONTON — An Amber Alert lasting just a few minutes was issued in Edmonton overnight after a sport utility vehicle with a young girl sleeping inside was stolen from a gas station.

Police say the SUV was taken just before 1:00 a.m. from a gas bar on the city's north side.

The alert was issued through social media about 90 minutes later, but was called off soon after when the vehicle was discovered abandoned a few blocks away.

The girl, who is believed to be nine, was found safe inside.

No one has been arrested. (CHED, CTV Edm)
