'Independence Day: Resurgence's' Vivica A Fox Is Back ... But Not As A Stripper

The sequel sci-fi fans have been waiting nearly 20 years for.

The aliens are back and the cast of "Independence Day" is ready for them.

After almost 20 years of waiting and nearly as many years of rumors about a follow-up movie, a sequel to the mega-hit, alien-invasion flick is officially in production and set for release late June of next year, according to actress Vivica A. Fox.

Fox will be returning to the role as Jasmine Dubrow-Hiller but this time, she won't be working the pole. Instead, she'll be working at a hospital.

The movie picks up 20 years after first the alien invasion. Director Roland Emmerich revealed that after the alien attack, the human race joined forces to organize a global defence system using alien technology to preempt future attacks.

According to IMDb, "nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction."

Vivica A. Fox joins original cast members Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, and Judd Hirsch. Noticeably out of the picture is megastar Will Smith.

Fox tells HuffPost Canada what fans can expect from the second movie in the video above.
