Vancouver Shooting: Manslaughter Suspect Killed In Targeted Attack, Say Police

This is the second homicide in two days in East Vancouver.

For the second time in two days, police are investigating a homicide in East Vancouver.

Police received several 911 calls reporting gunfire on Seaforth Drive near Rupert Street around 9 p.m. Monday. Officers and paramedics arrived to find a 20-year-old man lying on the side of the road, said Const. Brian Montague in a news release.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. This is Vancouver's 10th homicide of the year.

"The victim is known to police and was on bail at the time of his death on a charge of manslaughter. It is believed this shooting was targeted," said Montague.

UPDATE - July 28, 2015: Vancouver police have identified the victim as Samir Mokhtar, 20.

Just blocks from the deadly shooting, a high school student was found in his home with severe injuries on Sunday afternoon. Jason Nguyen, 15, was rushed to the hospital but died on the operating table, said police.

His death was ruled a homicide, but investigators have not released details about suspects or whether weapons were involved.
