The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. PT in the 8000-block of 152 Street.
Cpl. Bryan Fedirchuk with Surrey RCMP's Traffic Services said the driver of a Toyota sports utility vehicle (SUV) appeared to have been exiting the Guildford Golf and Country Club parking lot when a small southbound Mercedes car collided with the vehicle.
"The force of the collision rolled the SUV over and the Mercedes came to rest in oncoming lanes, or the northbound lanes, where it also made contact with a Dodge pickup," said Fedirchuk, who added that debris, believed to have ejected from the Toyota, flew into the windshield of a fourth vehicle.
The driver of the SUV, a man in his 50s, was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital with life-threatening injuries, however, his condition has since improved.
Fedirchuk said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the crash, but speed has not been ruled out.
152 Street was closed to traffic for several hours from 82 Avenue to 76 Avenue while officials from Surrey RCMP's Traffic enforcement team, Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) investigated the crash.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, quoting file number 2015-107920.
