North Vancouver Men Arrested After Climbing Construction Crane

Police and firefighters were called to the same construction site twice in one night.

Six men have been arrested after two separate incidents in which they climbed the same construction crane in North Vancouver.

Around 11:30 Thursday night, a passerby spotted two men atop the crane at 851 Queens Road West. RCMP and North Vancouver fire crews were called and had to talk the men down, Cpl. Richard De Jong told HuffPost B.C.

Once the men were back on the ground, officers realized the pair had been carrying a camera. The men were arrested, and the camera seized, De Jong said.

Three hours later, officials were called back to the same site where four more men had been seen climbing the crane. The men — who De Jong said had been drinking — were called down and arrested.

RCMP are working to figure out if the two groups of men are connected.

"They all made some poor choices and took some risky chances," De Jong said. "It's obviously concerning."

The officer added that the men, who are all 21-year-old North Vancouverites, could be charged with break and enter, trespassing at night, and mischief.
