Surrey RCMP investigating 2 separate stabbings

Police in Surrey, B.C., are investigating two separate late Thursday night stabbings.

One incident took place in the 10000 block of Semiahmoo Road a little before midnight.

Surrey RCMP said a 40-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jada Kyle, 13, was home alone next door when she heard some commotion and looked outside.

"All I see is him laying on the grass and he was wearing a white shirt, it looked kind of bloody and his wife — I'm guessing it was his wife — she got arrested," said Kyle.

Police confirmed a woman was arrested, but said she hadn't been charged with anything.

Kyle said the couple had moved into the neighbourhood just two weeks earlier.

Second unrelated incident

In a separate incident nearby, another man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

That happened in front of the Gateway Market at 108 Avenue and 132 Street sometime after 10 p.m.

Surrey RCMP had an area closed off behind police tape while officers collected evidence.

Police said no suspect had been arrested in that case.
