Vancouver Pride Parade: route map and events

The 37th annual Vancouver Pride Parade takes place downtown in the city's West End today, featuring a new, expanded route.

The parade starts at noon at the intersection of Robson and Thurlow streets, makes it way along Robson and Denman streets and ends at Beach Avenue and Jervis Street.

Organizers are reminding Vancouverites that there will be road closures in effect in the area throughout the day and to take public transit if possible.

The parade is expected to draw more than 650,000 people.

The Pride Festival will take place near the end of the parade route at Sunset Beach and will feature bands, performers and speakers.

According to festival organizers, Vancouver's Pride Parade is the fifth-largest Pride Parade in the world, with an economic impact of $3.2 million.
