Chris Hyndman, Star Of 'Steven and Chris,' Dead At 49

Chris Hyndman, best known for his work with longtime partner Steven Sabados on CBC's lifestyle show “Steven & Chris,” has passed away suddenly at age 49.

The popular talk show host's body was discovered in an east end Toronto alleyway without vital signs, according to CBC News. Toronto Police told the news site Hyndman's body was found after 11 p.m. on Monday near the intersection of Queen Street and Broadview Avenue.

On Tuesday, the show's Facebook page released an official statement:

It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning. We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven, family, friends and colleagues; our thoughts are with them all.

As CBC Newfoundland employee David Cochrane tweeted, the news was released via an internal memo:

Hyndman and Sabados, who have been together more than 25 years, built a lifestyle brand beloved by Canadians, starting with HGTV's “Designer Guys” in 2000, moving on to “So Chic,” “Design Rivals,” and finally, “Steven & Chris,” which is now in its eighth season.

CBC, in a tweet about the news, announced it would be pulling the show for the time being:

The pair were posting pictures of them relaxing together in Barbados just two days ago:

Hope everyone's having a good long weekend! Don't work too hard. ;)
