Calgary science centre expands kids' adventure park with outdoor challenges

CALGARY — The Telus Spark science centre has expanded its outdoor adventure park for kids, the Brainasium.

The expansion — phase 2 of the attraction, which first opened in summer 2014 — adds seven new features, including a 28-metre-long logjam and giant molecule-shaped climbing blocks.

Experiences in the 0.4-hectare park explore sound, physics and simple machines, featuring obstacles that challenge children and "prime their brains for new learning opportunities," the centre says.

"Risky play combines fun and stress — turbo-charging brain development."

Other Brainasium structures include a six-person teeter-totter, an 11-metre-high rope tower and a 19-metre-long tube slide.

Entry to the park is included with general admission to Telus Spark.
