A emaciated and dehydrated kitten found near death in a rat trap is getting a second chance after being rescued in West Kelowna, B.C.
The feline named Lola was discovered glued to a rat trap on Saturday. The 10 week old had gotten caught in a tar-like goop and had likely been stuck for days before being brought to Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital, reported Castanet.
"All her body and all four legs were trapped," veterinarian Dr. Moshe Oz told the outlet. "We got her just in the nick of time."
Lola's rescuer wants to remain anonymous, the animal hospital told HuffPost B.C. It's now looking for a new home for the kitty.
Oz said that such cases are reminders for people to consider more humane ways to trap unwanted guests.
In 2013, a rare spotted skunk was found with its paw caught in a rat trap in West Vancouver. Despite best efforts, gangrene set in and the critter had to be euthanized, according to the Wildlife Rescue Association.
