Police confirm search for Shawn Kapadia in Welland Canal

Toronto police have confirmed multiple marine units have been searching the Welland Canal to find the body of Shawn Kapadia.

Toronto and Niagara police have been searching the canal since Tuesday for a man suspected to have been murdered and encased in concrete.

Kapadia went missing July 5 and authorities suspect he was murdered, transported to a house in Wainfleet, Ont., to be covered in cement then later dumped in the Welland Canal.

Police say witnesses spotted a John Deere backhoe leaving the Wainfleet home July 12 carrying a large piece of concrete.

Authorities have been unable to find the concrete slab or Kapadia's body but the canal search continues.
