UPAC operation underway at Montreal stock exchange tower

A Quebec anti-corruption unit operation is underway in Montreal at the stock exchange tower.

In recent weeks, various municipal offices, politicians' homes and engineering firms have been raided as part of an investigation into the water-meter scandal.

In 2009, former Montreal mayor Gérald Tremblay announced the multi-million dollar contract awarded to the private consortium GÉNIeau would be cancelled after a review found irregularities with the tendering process.

A spokeswoman for UPAC said no arrests are expected today.
