Health officials issue boil water order for 500 homes in Fredericton

FREDERICTON — Health officials in Fredericton have issued a boil order for about 500 homes in an area on the city's north side.

The city says the order is issued for the Barker's Point and Lower St. Mary's area east of the Nashwaak Bridge.

The precautionary order comes after construction work caused a loss of pressure in the area's water system.

Residents are advised to bring water to a roiling boil for at least a minute before using, or are otherwise advised to use bottled water.

The water is safe for people to take showers, bathe and to use swimming pools.
