Miley Cyrus Goes '60s Chic On The Cover Of Marie Claire's September Issue

Edie Sedgwick, is that you?

By now we're either used to seeing Miley Cyrus in colourful loud clothing, or in nothing at all.

However, all that changed for Marie Claire's September 2015 issue, which stars the 22-year-old pop star channeling iconic '60s It-girl Edie Sedgwick.

On the cover photographed by Mark Seliger, the "Wrecking Ball" singer is seen sporting a mirrored shift dress adorned with beaded embellishments, cut outs and metallic patches. Her short blond locks are slicked down with a side part, and her makeup kept simple save for some heavy black eyeliner.

Inside the issue, the Happy Hippie Foundation founder wears more '60s-inspired frocks including a bright red coat with embroidered details, a sheer black dress with a metallic collar adorned with florals and jewels and a black and white striped croped sweater with a pair of high-waisted shorts.

In her interview with the magazine, the MTV VMA 2015 host opens up about sexism, her take on sexuality and how she struggles with both in the entertainment industry.

"There is so much sexism, ageism, you name it. Kendrick Lamar sings about LSD and he's cool. I do it and I'm a druggie whore," she says.

She also speaks out against Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" music video.

"I don't get the violence revenge thing. That's supposed to be a good example? And I'm a bad role model because I'm running around with my titties out? I'm not sure how titties are worse than guns."

Touché.
