Prince Harry Fights Poachers In South Africa

Prince Harry might be out of the army but that isn't stopping him from joining the war against animal poachers.

Harry, who is spending his summer in Africa working with animals along side top veterinarian Dr. Pete Morkel, reportedly flew to a military camp in South Africa last week to assist in night patrols at Kruger National Park, Hello magazine reports.

Kruger National Park covers nearly 2 million hectares of land making it one of the largest game reserves in Africa. The park is home to 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals including buffalo, elephants, lions, leopards and rhinos.

Sadly, the rhino population at the park has dramatically decreased due to illegal hunting. The Daily Mail reports that Harry has joined the South African government's anti-poaching campaign to help protect the African wildlife. The anti-poaching team consists of 400 armed rangers and 150 police officers and other armed forces.

The fight has already proven to be a deadly one, with International Business Times reporting that the force has killed 300 poachers.
