Aquarium Nails: The Crazy Nail Art Trend That's Taking Over Instagram

Just when we thought bubble nails were taking over the nail art world, we learned about this new manicure trend: aquarium nails.

Now, the name isn't quite as literal as some may think -- there are no fish involved (at least, not yet). Instead, the style modelled after an aquarium involves injecting glitter and water (or baby oil) in between a special double-paned artificial nail to mimic the effect and movement of sparkling water.

Those who want to get even more creative can add polish and jewels on top to create a true "under the sea" effect, as seen below:

Essentially, they're just like a snow globe, but in your nails.

And while aquarium nails aren't exactly new, they've recently gained more traction after a video from Tony's Nails in Wichita Falls, Texas, made rounds on Facebook. So far, it has been viewed almost 25 million times on Vietnamese talk show 2! Idol's Facebook page.
