HALIFAX — Nova Scotia's Progressive Conservative leader is paying tribute to former provincial cabinet minister Donald McInnes, who died Monday at age 81.
In a statement, Jamie Baillie says McInnes was well respected and dedicated his life to the people of the province.
McInnes was elected to the legislature in 1978 as the Progressive Conservative member for Pictou West.
He served in several cabinet posts, including as minister of transportation and of agriculture and marketing before leaving politics in 1998.
The former dairy farmer also served as an executive in several provincial and national agricultural organizations, and was an inductee in the Atlantic Agricultural Hall of Fame.
