OLIVER, B.C. — Two aggressive and fast-moving wildfires near Oliver in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley have forced residents to evacuate.
The B.C. Wildfire Service says the Willowbrook fire is burning west of Oliver and is about 1,300 hectares in size.
Fire information officer Kayla Pepper says air tankers can't be flown due to stormy weather but helicopters and crews from multiple agencies are responding.
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has issued an evacuation order for 200 homes.
Another blaze that broke out Thursday evening, the Mount Kobau fire southwest of Oliver, is 200 hectares and growing.
Pepper says the district has also recommended evacuations in this incident.
