Cake Poutine Will Be At This Year's CNE

Is this the most Canadian dessert to hit the CNE? Probably.

While this year's CNE food list won't be fully revealed until Wednesday, BlogTO reported the Cake Poutine (from Cake Poutine) is the first item to be featured on this year's new menu.

Created by two baking and pasty arts management graduates at Humber College, this particular version of the Cake Poutine (we are going to assume this one is The Canadian) is made up of vanilla bean cake fries, warm strawberry sauce, white chocolate chips as cheese curds, strawberries and a whipped topping with a maraschino cherry.

According to Humber Today, other flavours include the Maple Bacon Eh? (including bacon bits, of course) and The Camp Fire, which features marshmallows and graham crackers. At this point, it's not clear whether just the one or all the flavours will be available for sale at the Ex.

“We came up with the idea for Cake Poutine because we love poutine, we love being Canadian and we love to bake,” graduate Natasha Falcioni told Humber Today.

And while dessert poutine is nothing new, we're glad to see the first item on at the Exhibition's food list is a sweet one. However, we will say we're expecting something deep-fried, salty, and bacon-y this year — to top from last year's peanut butter Sriracha rolls.

Each poutine will cost $5 and will be available starting August 21. Let us know if you give it a try!
