New Expensive Netflix Series 'The Crown' Will Focus On Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth II, welcome to online streaming.

This might just be the next Netflix series you binge watch.

Word has it the online streaming site is partnering with Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures TV to bring royal family enthusiasts a brand new drama that follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II, Variety reports. Dubbed "The Crown," the series will cost over £100 million to produce — or $205 million in Canadian dollars.

And with a tagline like, "Two houses, two courts, one Crown," you can feel the drama already. As the video above explains, most of the show's cost is going into production, so we can expect great costumes and scenes of Buckingham Palace and Downing Street.

Netflix has agreed to air six seasons with 10 episodes in each one. So far, the cast has been revealed as Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II, Matt Smith as Prince Philip, and John Lithgow as Winston Churchill.

Although there is no scheduled date for the show just yet, it will air online sometime in 2016. Want to see pictures of the cast in action? The Telegraph has several set photos, including a recreation of the Queen's wedding.
