A California dad had the didn't think twice when his son wanted a Barbie doll at the toy store.
In a Facebook video, dad Mikki Willis explains that his four-year-old son Isaiah received two birthday presents that were exactly the same. As a result, the father-of-two took his son to the toy store to exchange one of them for something else. Unexpectedly, the little boy chose a Little Mermaid Barbie doll.
In response, Willis smiles at the camera and enthusiastically shares a heartwarming message about acceptance.
“I let my boys choose their life,” the dad says. “That’s how momma and I are, we just say whatever. We say yeah.”
“Choose your expression, choose what you’re into, choose your sexuality, choose whatever,” he continued.
Willis’ video has now gone viral with over 9.8 million views on Facebook. The post has also received hundreds of comments from enthusiastic users who approve of the father’s positive message.
“I had to watch this several times," one wrote. "So beautiful. So real. So kind. So human. Thank you.”
Another said: “As someone who had an Ariel doll himself, I have to say you're an amazing man and father. My father also allowed me to have one and I can say that my success as a kindhearted, intelligent and loving man is in huge part to my father's acceptance of who I was and contributed to those traits. Bravo!!”
