Child accidentally killed when firearm goes off: police

GRANDE CACHE, Alta. — RCMP in northern Alberta are investigating after a child was killed when a gun accidentally fired.

Mounties say officers were called to an acreage south of Grande Cache on Monday.

Officials say two children under the age of 12 were handling the firearm when it went off.

One of the children was wounded and died in hospital.

Officials told CTV Edmonton that there is no information as to where the parents were.

No charges have been laid.
