7 Health Benefits Of Wine That Go Beyond Relaxation

It's all about moderation.

It is often said, if something tastes good, it can't be good for you. But when it comes to wine, that simply isn't the case.

In the infographic below, from florists Serenata Flowers, we discover seven unexpected health benefits you can find at the bottom of a glass of wine. From reducing your risk of cancer to fighting the common cold, these benefits go much further than just helping you calm down after a hectic day at work.

For years researchers have been saying the antioxidants found in red wine are beneficial to heart health. But it's not just the antioxidants that are your friends. Researchers say resveratrol — the chemical found in berries and red wine — can reduce risk of inflammation, prevent blood clots and even fight obesity.

But before you reach for another glass of vino, you should know that researchers at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health say a glass of wine a day can also increase the risk of cancers, especially in the colon, liver, larynx and esophagus.

So maybe you're better off limiting your intake to just a few times a week. Life's all about living in moderation anyway, right?
