Taylor Swift Brought Alanis Morissette On Stage And Confused Fans

As it turns out, many of Swift's fans didn't know who the Canadian songstress was.

In a moment that should have been iconic for female musicians, Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette performed a duet of Morissette's 20-year-old hit, "You Oughta Know" in Los Angeles on Monday night. But as it turns out, many of Swift's fans didn't know who the Canadian songstress was.

Swift's five-night stint at the Staples Center has been a star-studded event. The 25-year-old's sold-out shows have included dozens of celebrity guests, like Ellen DeGeneres, Kobe Bryant, Chris Rock and Julia Roberts, who have surprised and delighted Swift's screaming fans.

Before bringing the "Jagged Little Pill" artist on stage, Swift introduced her to the crowd by saying, “She defined the music of her decade. She inspired a generation of confessional female singer-songwriters who all of a sudden felt like you could actually say these raw feelings that you had.”

But when Alanis joined Swift on stage some fans were still confused, and they took to Twitter to express their frustration.

The duo then rocked out to Morissette's breakup anthem which, we're hoping resulted in a light bulb moment for people in the crowd. Or at least, made them want to go out and find out who she is.

This isn't the first time a millennial popstar has given to kudos to the '90s rocker, only to confuse their own fans. Earlier this month, Justin Bieber tweeted to Alanis to help him promote his upcoming single, “Where Are U Now?”

And while Morissette showed off her Canadian sense of humour with a splashy video, it still prompted one fan to question if his mother knew who the artist was.
