The regional district says the air has cleared in the eastern Fraser Valley because winds have moved contaminated air away.
Provincial fire information officer Ryan Turcot says that although smoke has eased in parts of the south, it remains throughout the Kootenay and Columbia regions in southeast B.C.
He says the smoke is forecast to move back across the south on Wednesday, with the heaviest amount cloaking the southeast and Kamloops fire centres, in the southern Interior.
A total of 182 wildfires are burning across the province, with 10 new blazes ignited on Monday.
All but two of the fires were human-caused.
