Kensington Market 2-alarm fire forces residents to flee

Toronto firefighters are tackling a two-alarm fire in Kensington Market on Thursday morning.

Toronto Fire raced to a three-storey semi-detached building on Kensington Avenue, between Kensingnton Place and Fitzroy Terrace, around 6:15 a.m. where smoke was billowing from the roof.

Toronto Fire Capt. Mike Strapko said there were reports of people jumping from a second storey window to escape the fire.

It's unclear if there are any serious injuries at this time, though Strapko said it's believed everyone is out of the building.

At least 20 firefighting vehicles responded to the scene in the dense neighbourhood.

It's unclear what caused the fire.
